Passage:
2 Peter
2:10-12New International Version (NIV)
10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt
desire of the flesh[a] and despise
authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not
afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings; 11 yet even angels,
although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings
when bringing judgment on them from[b] the Lord. 12 But
these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like
unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and
destroyed, and like animals they too will perish.
Truths:
God will
judge the false teachers, who follow the corrupt desires of the flesh. They do
not acknowledge the authority of the Lord and despise all authorities. These
false teachers were not afraid of anything and abused the celestial beings. The
angels even though of higher authority to humans never abused the false
teachers for the sins they commit since they have reverential fear for the Lord
and they know that God alone has the right to judge. These false teachers are talking
ill about matters they themselves don’t understand. They are compared to
animals that just go by their instincts and do not have any moral standards.
They are born to be caught and destroyed. Just like these animals the False
Teachers will also perish.
Sins to Confess: Never Talk ill about others. Leave
them to be judged by the Lord.
Application:
Here Holy Spirit continues to warn about the
destruction that the false prophets are in store for. God cannot tolerate the truth
of the word being twisted and taught to fulfil the desires of the flesh. This
is pure blasphemy and will lead many others also to death. Further I am able to
understand that even the angels never judged the false teachers, which shows
how judging others is so displeasing to God. We do not have the right to judge
anyone. There is only one judge and that is the Lord. The Lord knows each
person very well. It’s not up to us to talk ill about anything. Further let us
also not encourage or be distracted by people who teach the word falsely and
guard ourselves from such teachings.
Prayer:
Abba Father, Help us to interpret your word
rightly and recognize the false prophets so that we can guard ourselves from
bringing doom into our lives. I pray for all my fellow believers to have this
capacity. If we see any person going in the wrong track, help us to lead to them to the
right way through your word and help us not judge them while we do this.
In Jesus Name I pray, AMEN
