Quiet Time - Meditation on the Word(Personal)

What is Quiet Time?

It is fellowship time with God. We communicate our needs to the Lord by means of prayer, but how do we listen to his voice? The most common medium God uses to communicate is through the word. Feeding on the word will help us deepen our relationship with Him.

Quiet Time may be defined as personal association with Christ necessary to deepen our relation ship with him.

Why Quiet Time?

1. To have a personal relationship with God

2. To receive guidance and protection of God

3. To take after the Lord's Character, personality and LIfe.

4. To carry out Lord's work

How to Prepare for Quiet Time?

1. Prepare you mind with expectation and fear

2. The Bible and QT Note book - If possible keep a separate notebook to record notes. Please follow the format shown at the bottom.  Do not use any secondary material such as daily bread because this is the direct fellowship with the Lord through the word.

3. Place and Time: Choose a place you can spend at least 20-30 minutes with the Lord without disturbance.

How to do Quiet Time?

1. Start with Praising : Praise is preparing the heart to go before God.

2. Ask Holy Spirit for help:   As Holy Spirit is the author of the Holy Bible he can illuminates the scriptures for us to understand it better and we need to ask Him for help.

3.Find Truths by listening to the word.: Read the passage several time as this expresses humility and meditate on scriptures to find the below biblical principles:

S - Sins to confess

P - Promises to keep

E - Examples to follow 

A - Actions to take

K - Knowledge of God, Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit

S-P-E-A-K

  You may have to read the passage several times to find the truths and it can be difficult in the beginning. As you becomes acquainted with the method you can find the truths with lesser time

4. Apply it Practically: This is where we need to find the application. How does it apply to my life?

The three elements are necessary :

a. it should be personal

b. It should be practical

c. It should be possible 

5. Pray on the results: Ask for God's help to submit to what the word has said to you.

6. Share with others your experience

                      This technique was taught when I attended BEE Bible Class. Our mentor,DrS always emphasized the importance and persistently encouraged us to practice it. It was tough at the beginning but when we all started putting accountability on sharing it with each other, it just worked out for me and many others. Since then it has been so magical and precious to me. Thank You Lord, for your love by talking to me through the word. I also thank BEE and my 'angel' mentor DrS for all the classes and bringing such a breakthrough in my life.
