PROVERBS 3: 21-26 WISDOM WHICH HELPS TO FACE ANY FEAR

Passage:

Proverbs 3:21-26(NIV)

21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
    preserve sound judgment and discretion;
22 they will be life for you,
    an ornament to grace your neck.
23 Then you will go on your way in safety,
    and your foot will not stumble.
24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
    when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
    or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the Lord will be at your side
    and will keep your foot from being snared.

Understanding:

1. Wisdom and Understanding should never be out of sight - we need to preserve judgment and discretion.
2. It gives life to innerself and is an ornament to the outerself.
3. Benefits:

• Walk in our way safely and with confident trust
• We will not stumble
•  We can lie down without fear
• We can sleep in peace
• We will be fearless in sudden terror and panic.
• Lord will be our confidence - Firm and strong
• He will keep us from falling in danger.

Truth :

Promise to Keep : Godly wisdom will benefit us in many ways. It leads to a confident trust which helps us to stand strong and peaceful in any given situation.

Application:

The wisdom from God will bring to life the inner self or as I understand it - It will ignite the Holy Spirit in me. This doesn't stay inside but shows on the outside as I begin to be fruitful in the spirit. With Godly wisdom I am able to walk the paths in my life without fear. I place my trust in the Lord and hence can sleep in peace without fear of the evil. I can stay out of Danger as my confidence is in the Lord.

 

Prayer :

Abba Father , with the Knowldege of you which I currently hold, I already feel so confident in you. I can feel your presence and this brings out the confidence in me. Once being an insecure person, I am now being transformed since I know that I place my confidence and trust in you. I fear no evil coming against me as I am covered by your precious blood. Help me to saturate in the word and grow in knowledge of you. I seek your blessings to share this knowledge to atleast one another person and lead that person to you.

Proverbs 3:19-20 SEEK GODLY WISDOM THAT LED TO CREATION IN ITS PERFECT PLACE

Passage:

Proverbs 3:19-20

19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations,

    by understanding he set the heavens in place;

20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,

    and the clouds let drop the dew.

Understanding:

1. The earth and the heavens were all set in its place by the wisdom and understanding  of

God

2. The waters were divided and clouds dropped dew by His Knowledge.

Truths:

Knowledge of God - The earth,heavens, waters and clouds were set in its place by the wisdom, understanding and knowledge of God.

Application :

Godly wisdom was the beginning of every creation. All the creation are in its perfect place and action since God has placed it there with his understanding and knowledge. Here I am lead to understand that for any major decisions I need to seek Godly wisdom. It is only with this wisdom that the decision can be executed well. Furthermore it gives security to know that everything is under godly wisdom and understanding. So when some events in my life happen which I cannot understand / comprehend. I have to let go and surrender to Him because my Father in heaven who has set all creation in its perfect place will secure me also.

Prayer:

Abba father,
Enable me to seek your Godly wisdom at all times. Help me to be deeply rooted in the word so that I gain this wisdom. Let me never worry about the trivial matters in my life but submit my problems to you who has everything in its perfect place by your understanding, wisdom and knowledge.

Proverbs 3:13-18 GODLY WISDOM IS MUCH MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD AND SILVER

Passage:

Proverbs 3:13-18

¹³ Blessed are those who find wisdom,
    those who gain understanding,
¹⁴ for she is more profitable than silver
    and yields better returns than gold.
¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies;
    nothing you desire can compare with her.
¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand;
    in her left hand are riches and honor.
¹⁷ Her ways are pleasant ways,
    and all her paths are peace.
¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
    those who hold her fast will be blessed.

Understanding:

The verses here talk about the benefits of finding Godly wisdom. This wisdom is much more valuable than gold, silver and rubies. There is nothing more precious on this earth that can take its place. Godly wisdom promises us long life (eternal life with The Father) and riches and honor (Heavenly riches and the honor we receive there- this is what really matters to me). A person who has godly wisdom will select the most pleasant ways and the path he/she takes will lead to a peaceful life as he/she is in counsel with God. Holding on to this wisdom will make a person fruitful in their life and will be blessed.

Truths:

Promise to keep: Godly wisdom make us select the pleasant ways and enables us choose paths which leads to peace.

Application:

  I need to gain this Godly wisdom and there is no other way than to saturate in the word. I will seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help me interpret the scriptures and live in obedience to it as this wisdom will show me the right paths to take and ways to make my life a peaceful one. This wisdom is more precious than any other wisdom and should not be compared to worldly wisdom. In this evil world where people are just behind fulfilling their selfish ambitions and rely on their wisdom to achieve it, I need to be guided by the godly wisdom.

Prayer:

Father Lord, How precious is your Godly wisdom! Let me always seek your counsel in all matters so that I may select the right path in my life. Your guidance is so precious and I seek your blessings to enable me to come to you first to seek guidance than with my own knowledge or of others. Enable me to wait upon you for a decision and not to base my decisions on feelings and thoughts. I wish to surrender myself to you to be guided by the Holy Spirit at all times.

All this I ask in your precious name

Proverbs 3:1-2 COMMANDS TO KEEP AND REWARDS FOR IT

Passage :

Proverbs 3:1-2
1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
    but keep my commands in your heart,
² for they will prolong your life many years
    and bring you peace and prosperity.

 

 

 

 

 

                                   Here God is asking us not to forget whatever He has taught us. We do not have an excuse to say that we have forgotten what we have learned in the word. We need to the keep the commands in our heart so that we can use it to be led at all times of our life. The reward for this:

Prolonged life: I would like to understand it as eternity. If we obey His commands (accept Him as Savior and live a life with Him as the Lord) we get to live with Him in eternity.

Peace: When I know that I am going in a path with the Holy Spirit in control and am being led by the commands of God I will have a peace in the heart.

Prosperity: I like to understand prosperity as the verse Mathew 6:33 teaches “but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” 

When we seek His righteousness and His kingdom, whatever is required for us will be provided by the merciful Father.

Truth:

Promise to Keep: Remember the commands of the word and be led by it at all times.

Application:

There are times in my life where I come across a situation and I know what the word tells me to do but I don’t, because it is sometimes very difficult to 'die to myself'. These verses serve as a reminder that the Lord gives just as a father explains to his son. Never forget whatever the word is teaching, keep it locked in your heart so that your actions and word reflect the same when a situation is encountered. The rewards mentioned are so promising, I will be blessed with eternal life, peace at all times and will be prosperous in all the areas the Lord has willed for me.

Prayer:

Father Lord,

Thank you for reminding me how important it is to practice what I learn. Yes Father, I understand that the Bible is not a book to just read and gain knowledge, but something far far beyond it, It is a book to live by. Every action, every word I speak, every thought I have should be guided those precious words. Lord, I know there is your breath in every word of the bible and let me breath it in and exhale the same quality of breath I took in. I thank you for the precious rewards you have promised for the obedience to your words.

PROVERBS 2:6-8 THE LORD OF WISDOM PROTECTS THE UPRIGHT



Passage:

Proverbs 2:6-8New International Version (NIV)

6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
    he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
    and protects the way of his faithful ones.

 

Truths:

 

1.   The Lord gives wisdom

2.   He guides our path since he gives us knowledge and understanding

3.   He holds success for the righteous people

4.   He is a Shield to those who walk blamelessly

5.   He guards the ways of the just

6.   Protects the way of saints

Application:

The Lord provides wisdom to those who seek Him earnestly. He gives them the knowledge and understanding. I understand that the knowledge He provides is about the greatness of God, The sacrifice of the son and the work of the Holy Spirit. He makes us understand what life is all about, what are the things that really matter? What are the right paths to take? Which are the paths not to tread on?  He makes us understand the will of God in our life.

He guarantees success for the righteous. What makes me righteous? I am made righteous (perfect without sins) through my faith in Christ Jesus. God pronounced me righteous when I accepted Christ as my savior. What is the success that He provides the righteous? I understand it as a beautiful journey with Him as Saviour continued by a life along with Him in eternity.

The Lord protects the righteous people and becomes a:

·       SHIELD - He becomes a shield to the righteous

Psalms 5:12

Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

·       GUARD

He guards their course. The Lord is with the righteous in all walks of their life. He teaches the right paths to take and paths not to take.

 

Psalms 121:8

The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

 

 

·       PRESERVER

Protects them in their way, Keeps us safe from evil of the world and maintains us in the right path.

Psalms 121:7

            The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life;

Prayer:

Abba Father,

Thank you for the wonderful promises that you are providing in these verses. We are so blessed when we seek you and gain the wisdom and knowledge to lead our life according to you will.  I trust you to lead my in all walks of my life.

PROVERBS 2:1-5 SEEKING GODLY WISDOM EARNESTLY

Passage:

Proverbs 2:1-5

1 My son, if you accept my words
    and store up my commands within you,
² turning your ear to wisdom
    and applying your heart to understanding—
³ indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
⁴ and if you look for it as for silver
    and search for it as for hidden treasure,
⁵ then you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.

Truths:

Here the verses teach the benefit of gaining wisdom. Before achieving this wisdom there is an yearning, longing seeking i.e. an intentional / willful seeking of the Lord  which helps us to fear the Lord and understand him. The willful actions and my understanding of the same are as listed below:

1.      Accept my word – READ THE WORD

2.      Store up my commands with you – MEMORIZE  THE WORD

3.      Tuning your ear to wisdom – HEAR THE WORD

4.      Apply your heart to understanding – MEDITATE ON THE WORD (truth & application)

5.      Call out for insight, Cry aloud for understanding – STUDY THE WORD

In this way when we seek Him with all our heart, as if we are searching for hidden treasure, we will be soaked in His wisdom and we can understand His will for us in our life. We understand His majesty, His righteousness, His faithfulness, His love and He becomes our savior and our Lord.

Application:

I will do all the above ways to grow deeper roots in the word. The word of the Lord provides the wisdom and I will apply it to my life. I will remember the promises in His word and seek after Him all my life.

 

Prayer:

Abba father,

Thank you Lord for making me understand these verses. You soak us in your wisdom when we earnestly seek you. You are always near to us when we seek you and we have the promise that you will never leave us or forsake us. Thank you Lord for this Hope that we have in you. Help me and my fellow believers to stand strong on your word so that we can overcome any trails that come upon us through your divine wisdom. Help us to pass this Hope to many others Lord.

PROVERBS 1:20-27 WISDOM CALLS OUT

Passage :

Proverbs 1:20-27New International Version (NIV)

²⁰ Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,

    she raises her voice in the public square;
²¹ on top of the wall^[a] she cries out,
    at the city gate she makes her speech:

²² “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?
    How long will mockers delight in mockery
    and fools hate knowledge?
²³ Repent at my rebuke!
    Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
    I will make known to you my teachings.
²⁴ But since you refuse to listen when I call
    and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,
²⁵ since you disregard all my advice
    and do not accept my rebuke,
²⁶ I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you;
    I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
²⁷ when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
    when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
    when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

Truths:

•  God’s wisdom is calling out to all people and we need to heed to it.
•  This a direct call to all people since God reveals himself to believers and non-believers
•  Wisdom is calling out at the City gates and market place where majority gather.
•  Warning is to three types of people

a.       Simple - who are easily influenced and driven away from their faith

b.       Mockers - who mock the believers and God

c.       Fools - who knows the Lord but wants to ignore and hate this knowledge.

•  If the wisdom of the Lord comes upon you and you receive it with joy then the Lord will pour his spirit on you and the Holy Spirit will interpret all the Lord’s teachings to you.
•  For the ones who got this opportunity to gain Godly wisdom and yet have refused to accept it and ignore the many opportunities they received, they are on the way to their destruction.
•   These men have chosen to disregard all advices and rebukes and have not turn back from their sinful ways.
•  The end of these men are destruction and calamity. They will be destroyed.

 

Application:

   God gives us many chance to know Him and gain His godly wisdom. God has revealed himself to mankind in such a way that they cannot hide from his supremacy. He gives us many chances to repent and turn to Him for salvation but many have chosen not to understand it. The sinful men have chosen to go along with the world and its evil ways as it much easier and fun way to do things. They gain popularity and are influenced by the riches of this world. They are actually gambling with a much more precious gift in heaven and they do not acknowledge that they are on their way to doom.  If we gain this godly wisdom and become saved, the Lord will pour the Holy Spirit on us and this wonderful counselor will help us interpret the teachings of the Lord through the word. Through these teaching we hold on strong to the promises of the Lord and obtain a secure position in heaven. Whereas the evil men are on their way to destruction on the judgment day where they will be questioned why they have shunned away from God when He gave so many chances to repent.

Prayer:
 

I thank you for this opportunity to be saved and have a secure position in you. I have the burden to save many more people into your Kingdom Lord and seek your blessings to get this done. Let them be able to understand your love for them Lord. Let them not shun away from you any longer Lord. Thank you for the Holy Spirit you have provided us a guidance to lead to the right paths and understand you more.  Help me to meditate on your word and understand your teaching. Let me hold on to your word with my heart and be led by it at all times.

PROVERBS 1:8-19 INVITATION OF THE SINFUL MEN AND THE INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD ON TO

^{Passage : Proverbs 1:8-19}

⁸ Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction
    and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
⁹ They are a garland to grace your head
    and a chain to adorn your neck.

¹⁰ My son, if sinful men entice you,
    do not give in to them.
¹¹ If they say, “Come along with us;
    let’s lie in wait for innocent blood,
    let’s ambush some harmless soul;
¹² let’s swallow them alive, like the grave,
    and whole, like those who go down to the pit;
¹³ we will get all sorts of valuable things
    and fill our houses with plunder;
¹⁴ cast lots with us;
    we will all share the loot”—
¹⁵ my son, do not go along with them,
    do not set foot on their paths;
¹⁶ for their feet rush into evil,
    they are swift to shed blood.
¹⁷ How useless to spread a net
    where every bird can see it!
¹⁸ These men lie in wait for their own blood;
    they ambush only themselves!
¹⁹ Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain;
    it takes away the life of those who get it.

Truths:

1.   The instructions of our father and Mother should never be forsaken and they need to be remembered at all times.
2.   Solomon warns of sinners who will try to invite you into their evil world, But we shouldn't.

3.   They are the ones who wait patiently to kill others.

4.   They are the ones who steal precious things of others.

5.   They ask us for our money to share between everyone and promise to share theirs

6.   We should not trod into their path as it is headed towards evil and blood shed.

7.   The bird would never be a bait if they see the net spread before them, similarly we should be wise enough to understand the trap set before us.

8.   The sinful men who are doing harm to others are actually harming themselves as they have disobeyed God and His wrath is in store for them.

9.   This is the same fate of the people who are greedy for gain. Their own life will be taken away from them and they will be destroyed.

Application :

1.   I understand that I should remember the advice of my parents and elders who have only my goodwill in view and care for me. I also understand it as the instruction of my God who would never leave me and forsake me and these instructions I will wear as a garland to my head and as a chain around my neck which means that I should remember them at all times in my walk of life so that I do not tread into sinful path.

2.   The warning of Solomon to the young can be applied to my life as this:

I have been saved from eternal death and now enjoy a beautiful relationship with the Father. There will be many points in life when I can get invitations from sinful people. Their sin can range from gossip, jealousy, blasphemy, greed for possession, position & passion, back stabbing, slander to high end sins such as robbery, adultery or even murder. At these points I need to understand that in the beginning these people might be having fun, they might have the freedom, they might be adored by people, it might be the most popular thing to do, they might be honored for it, But this is not my God’s will for me. I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus and a very high price has been paid for my redemption. I should never forget that just to satisfy my passions and fulfill my need to please others. These sinful people are only digging their own hole since there will be a judgement day and they will be answerable for all their sins whether big or small.  The wrath of God will come upon them. I need to be guided by the Godly wisdom through the guidance of the Holy Spirit to choose my paths wisely.

Prayer:

Father Lord,   

Thank you for making me understand that many traps can be set before me by sinful people. Enable me and my fellow believers to be guided by the Holy Spirit, the counselor you have given us and never fall into their snares. Help us to remember the price that you have paid for saving us from this sinful world and keep this knowledge as chain around our neck so that we remember this and never fall into temptation.
